About

Paul Root Wolpe has been a leader in the field of bioethics for 40 years. He taught at the University of Pennsylvania for over 20 years, then moved to Emory University where, for the last 16 years he served as the Director of the Center for Ethics. He has now been commissioned by the Provost of Emory to build a new, innovative center for conflict transformation and peacebuilding at Emory. A social scientist, futurist, and bioethicist, Wolpe has been the bioethicist for NASA and for Planned Parenthood of America, is the only person to have served as president of both major bioethics professional associations, and is a Fellow of the Hastings Center and of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the country’s oldest medical society.
